The Good Time
The Good Time is an exploration of cultural and personal identity through family history.
As a second generation Indian American, my curiosity about the similarities and differences between the first and second generation experiences led me to conduct interviews with my mom and her four siblings about their lives growing up. Looking over their responses, I found the places where their experiences were similar or connected to each other, as well as to mine, and shed some light on the ways that our experiences differed. From their responses, I constructed a narrative that attempts to highlight the points of resonance between their lives as individuals and our story as a family. Underscoring the story is a musical score, written as my own response to, and interpretation of, our shared history.
